How long have you been trading and how did you start?

I have been trading for nearly 10 years. I mainly make trading decisions based on market trends and price action, judging the direction for the day and the week.

What was the most valuable lesson you learnt while trading?

The most valuable lesson I learned is that when a strong trending market appears, I should stick to my original correct view and hold profitable positions until the trend is basically over before reversing.

In the past, I often took profits halfway and then reversed too quickly, which caused me to give back my gains. This was due to a weak mindset and a lack of conviction. I learned that only by holding positions firmly can you achieve larger profits.

What qualities or habits do you think are essential for a trader?

A successful trader should always stay calm and clear-minded, avoid emotional trading, and keep a balanced mindset regardless of profit or loss. It is important to analysze market sentiment and trade rationally.

Describe your best trade so far: which instrument, strategy and profit did you make?

One of my most memorable trades was a major gold drop. I used a small-to-large position strategy and added positions in the direction of the trend.

Each time my first short position gained around $30, I added another position. When the second position also gained about $30, I moved it to breakeven and continued adding positions. When the market slowed or reversed, I hedged all positions. The hedging trades were usually closed with $10–15 profit, while I kept the main short positions.

By repeating this over 3–5 days, my account grew more than 10 times. I turned $1,000 into over $38,000 in about a week.
